Iyabode Omolara Akewo Nwabueze is a Professor of English (language). She is currently a professor on sabbatical at the Department of English and Literature, University of Benin. She was the Dean, Faculty of Arts and Senate Representative for Governing Council, National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN). She is also a member of the prestigious Nigerian Academy of Letters. Between 2015/2016, she was a Visiting Scholar at the Department of English, University of Ghana. She has published in reputable academic journals. She published the book Introductory Phonetics and Phonology in 2011. She has written and edited course materials, including Psycholinguistics (undergraduate and postgraduate), (developer and co-writer), for her Department as well as in Syntax, Phonetics and Phonology, Sociolinguistics and Semantics. She edited a book of readings, Communication and Language Skills (2018) published by CSP, UK. She is also the senior editor for the book: Linguistic Structure, Language Contact and Virtual Communication: A Festschrift for Tayo Lamidi (2023), which has TETFund sponsorship. Her most recent co-authored work is Introduction to Psycholinguistics (2024), also sponsored by TETFund. She is interested in documenting the Okpe dialect of the Edo language, for which she needs collaborators. Her ongoing book project, among others, is Communication Theory and Practice the Age of AI.  She has published playlets, short stories and collections of poems. She is also on the editorial teams of journals, national and international, and a consulting editor for some institutions. Her passion for academics sees her leading several research teams, within her institution and in collaboration with other institutions. She has also obtained grants for field research and travel to present papers at conferences, nationally and internationally. She has been a motivator and mentor to many academics in her field and across other Faculties. She also led the Media Unit in her place of worship, where she is the lead editor for the church magazine. She is the Chairwoman, Local School Board, Kingdom Heritage Model School, Living Faith Church, Lokogoma, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory. She employs technology to deliver her educational content at every opportunity she has to impart knowledge and impact others, especially, the younger generation.
