Career Profile
I had my BA Honours (Philosophy, 2nd Class Upper Division) in 1972 from the University of Ife (now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife). I earned my Ph.D (Philosophy) in 1976, from the University of Wales in the UK. I started teaching Philosophy at the University of Ibadan in 1976 and was promoted to the rank of Professor in 1988. I became Emeritus Professor at the National Open University of Nigeria in 2015. I have published many scholarly books and journal articles.

I have done research and taught Philosophy for over 50 years at the University level; served as Head of Department and Dean of the Faculty of Arts, University of Ibadan. I was a member of the Governing Council of the National Open University of Nigeria for 8 years and Chairman of the Federal Polytechnic, Nasarawa, for 6 years. Outside the university, I served as a columnist and member of the Editorial Board of the Guardian Newspapers (Nigeria,1986-91).
I have written several scholarly books, among them, the Foundations of African Philosophy, published in 1993 by Ibadan University Press. I have also contributed many chapters to scholarly books and and numerous scholarly articles in national and international Journals of Philosophy.
My research interest is in African Philosophy, especially the genesis of African Moral Behaviour.
