Dr Oyekunle Adegboyega attended Ogun State University, now Olabisi Onabanjo University, (OOU), Ago-Iwoye and the University of Ibadan, for his BA, MA, and PhD in Philosophy. Dr Adegboyega began his teaching career on 2nd October, 1996 as a Graduate Assistant at the then Ogun State University and rose through the ranks to the level of a Senior Lecturer in 2010. He served the university in various capacities; he was the Departmental Examination officer, Departmental Coordinator of BA Philosophy (Sandwich Degree Programme, OOU), Faculty Coordinator, Centre for Sandwich Programme(CESAP), Chairman, Faculty of Arts CESAP Committee on the investigation of Fake Notification of Results, Secretary, Investigative panel on results infraction.

He was at the Lagos State University (LASU) on Sabbatical in 2014/2015 where he served as the Chairman of the Departmental Publication Committee. He was an Associate Lecturer in the Department of Communication and General Studies, Federal University of Agriculture Abeokuta from 2009 to 2011 academic sessions and at CALEB University, Lagos in 2012/2013. He joined the services of NOUN on 7th December, 2017. He was promoted to the rank of Associate Professor on 1ST January, 2020. He was the pioneer Head, Department of Philosophy.  He has served as the subject officer for the Faculty of Arts, a representative of the Faculty of Arts in Quality Assurance, SIWESS and SERVICOM. He has published in many journals both local and international. Dr Oyekunle Adegboyega was appointed as the Director of Abeokuta Study Centre, NOUN in February, 2024 to date.
